LIFE IP CleanEST project in collaboration with Estonian University of Life Sciences organised a workshop on nutrient balance calculations for sustainable farming and water protection on 20-21 April 2023 in Tartu, Estonia. We discussed best practices for fertilizer recommendations and tools for nutrient balance calculations with examples from agri-environmental policy as well as how methodologies developed in the framework of LIFE projects will be used outside of the project.

On behalf of the LIFE IP CleanEST project, Alar Astover from Estonian University of Life sciences presented fertilizer recommendations and nutrient balance calculations tools. Ann Riisenberg from the Ministry of the Environment of Estonia presented about nutrient balance indicator in agri-environmental policy.

We were visited by brilliant colleagues from Latvia and the United Kingdoms who presented their findings regarding working with farmers and quantifying nutrient reductions.
