Estonia's first: LIFE IP CleanEST installed floating islands to clean Soolikaoja creek in Rakvere

Estonia's first floating islands, the aim of which is to clean water bodies, were installed on the three ponds of Soolikaoja creek in the city of Rakvere. Improving the aquatic environment of Soolikaoja is part of the ten-year project LIFE IP CleanEST. Plants were planted on 11 floating islands, which clean the water through the roots from the pollutants.

Residual pollution from Kohtla-Nõmme former tire factory has been liquidated

The work of eliminating the residual pollution on the territory of the former Kohtla-Nõmme tire factory, which started in July, has now been completed. In total, nearly 14,000 m3 of heavily contaminated soil and 100 m3 of residual oil were removed.

The children from Virumaa made drawings about water bodies and environmental problems

Keskkonnaamet tänab kõiki 5–13aastasi noori virulasi, kes osalesid joonistusvõistlusel „Mina ja veekogu“. Konkursile laekus kokku 73 tööd, millest enamusel kujutati Eesti veekogudega seotud probleeme.
