Environmental awareness

The success of environmental preservation and protection activities depends on the environmental awareness of the population. Thus, the project involves constant communication with the public via various different media channels and by organising events which are related to the topics of the project. Science cafés, nature evenings, nature camps, and other events and activities to increase environmental awareness are being organised.

A permanent exhibit, travelling display items, and a science theatre play have been created at the AHHAA Science Centre. The Environmental Board is organising twenty nature-themed evenings, in total, to introduce the activities and achievements of the project.

In 2020, a drawing competition and a photo competition were organised for children and youths, as well as the first nature camp in Käsmu. The Soolikaoja discovery trail was opened in Rakvere in the end of the year. In total, three photo competitions and five camps will be organised.

Further information about the events organised to increase environmental awareness can be found on the Environmental Board’s Facebook page and on the project’s Facebook page ‘Virumaa veed puhtaks’ (Let's clean the waters of Virumaa).
