Agricultural point or diffuse load on rivers

There are no signs of reduction in the burden of pollution in the Baltic Sea, despite that over 100 measures have been developed on the European level, to reduce the impact of agriculture. A thorough, complex study led by researchers from the Tallinn University of Technology assists in providing a better picture of what is taking place in Estonia.

Excessive nutrients coming from agriculture, residues of plant protection products and medicines, move into our water bodies and affect the water quality. These substances may finally also reach our food table. The project will monitor the impact of agriculture on water bodies on six rivers, as well as develop a guide, for agricultural environmental measures and a guide, for calculating the nutrient balance.
